Train as a Mediator with us via Zoom from anywhere!

Fabulous feedback received for the Society's first fully remote mediation course presented for the Bar Council and other delegates this week.  

Our 40-hour remote Civil and Commercial Mediation Course can be undertaken from anywhere in the world and follows the same highly regarded programme as our 'in-person' courses and is led by the same wonderful Faculty. Successful completion leads to SOM accreditation .  

Arising initially out of necessity, given repeated lockdowns and the uncertainty of travel and other arrangements, the decision was made to move our week-long mediation courses to Zoom. The first delegates to undertake the course via this method loved the flexibility it provided along with the opportunity to coverse with those from outside of their own households at long last! The average satisfaction rating provided in feedback was an extraordinary 97.3%.

As a result of the feedback received we plan to continue to offer delegates the opportunity to train via our Zoom programme for the forseeable future alongside our usual programme of 'in-person' courses as and when these are permitted to resume. We believe that having the option to attend a remote course will make training more accessible and inclusive for those that may otherwise be unable to travel or be away from home for an entire week and look forward to the additional diversity that this will bring to the profession.

Currently, in order to meet Civil Mediation Council requirements, trainee mediators must have undertaken an 'in-person' assessment. Whilst CMC membership and accreditation is not compulsory for those wishing to conduct in-person mediations, we recognise that some of our delegates may wish to meet this requirement. Therefore all attendees of our Zoom courses for 2021 will be offered an in-person assessment day which will be video recorded. free of charge as part of their course fee. We will provide those individuals with a variety of dates as soon as common sense and the Covid Regulations permit.
